I've been putting together Elliott's Easter outfit for a couple weeks now. And I know that sounds pretty intense, but it's not. I found her dress a while ago, finally found a sweater I liked, and just found matching sandals last weekend. Exhausting, right?
Well, the sandals that match just perfectly were spotted at Target. We were picking a few unnecessary items and we wondered over to the kids shoes. My daughter has some pretty chubby feet, if I do say so myself. And they're really cute. So I find the sandals and we have to try them on before we buy them (of course), so I remove her sock and put her little foot in the sandal. And it's perfect (que Cinderella music here). So I take it off and we go on our merry way.
Or so I thought. I gave the sandals to Elliott to hold because she's 13 months and likes that sort of thing. And we're watching her try to put the sandal back on (ooh, so cute) and then she throws them and starts having a little meltdown. And Elliott's not at the major meltdown age yet so this is new territory for us. I pick the sandals up and hand them to her which calms her down. She starts trying to put the sandal on again, gives up, and throws it again. So I take her sock off and put the sandal back on.
Wow.
That sandal led to happiness and calmness I had never witnessed before. She loved having that one sandal on and started kicking with excitement. Which was really funny since the other sandal was still attached with the stretchy band. So we shopped happily through Target, paid without taking the sandal off, walked to the car in the cold air with the sandal on, and didn't end up taking it off until it was nap time at home. She loved that sandal. And I am so proud of her blossoming shoe fetish.
