the black maxi

(maxi: Kohls, scarf: TJ Maxx, belt: Kohls, sandals: Old Navy, bangles: various, sunglasses: c/o Firmoo)

Yesterday I shared how this black maxi has been in my closet for a while and I just never took the tags off.  I don't know why I do that, but I do.  I'll buy something and think I'll wear it for a specific event or day and then forget about it.  But then it's like Christmas when I find it and finally take the tags off.  Weird, I know.

So when this little guy finally made it out of my closet, I made up for lack of use all in one day.

Maxi with touches of neon for church.  It turned into a bathing suit cover up after church when we went swimming at some friends' house.  Then that evening after the girls were in bed, I was heading out for drinks with a friend and the maxi morphed back into a dress with a red belt, scarf, and brown sandals.

I had no idea this dress' potential and feel bad for neglecting it.

But now I know.  And I will never forget.  (A little dramatic for a dress, huh?)

And while I can't give you my dress, I can give you the hookup for some free glasses.

Aren't those sunglasses I'm wearing awesome?  They came from Firmoo.  .

I love these sunglasses.  I have a hard time finding glasses that don't pinch my head (fat head maybe?) but these were perfect.  I also have a weird nose for glasses since breaking it pretty badly playing basketball when I was younger.  So I have a lot of specific requirements for glasses and these fit them all.  If I could order them again, the only thing I would change is I would get completely black, not the transitional fade (I'm not sure if that's a real thing or I just made it up).  Sometimes while outside I feel like I'm wearing bifocals because of the fade.  And I'm seriously not ready for bifocals yet.

And now the great news: Firmoo is giving away pairs of glasses (prescription or sunglasses) through their new buyer program  All you have to do is go here and sign up.  No really, that's all--just pick out your favorite pair and they're yours.  Firmoo is the world's most popular online eyeglass store.  Vision and Fashion the Frugal Way is the ultimate goal of Firmoo, so it has always committed itself to providing customers with high-quality and fashionable eyewear at the most affordable prices.  Firmoo recently launched a program offering free eyewear to first-time buyers.  Free glasses and fast shipping--it's a pretty sweet deal.

My glasses arrived the day we were heading out to the lake so I got to spend the week breaking them in.  They haven't left my face since.  I don't wear prescription glasses, but I kind of wish I did with all the frames they have available.  We'll definitely order Chris' next pair of glasses from Firmoo.

Want to get your free pair?  Head over there now!

Mocha Tree Organics giveaway

I am so excited to have my first giveaway today!

February in Indiana is pretty dreary.  And while we are having unseasonably warm weather, it is still kind of blah here.  Winter is still around, but we are being teased with what is to come, even if it is still a couple months away.  So to get the juices flowing and to add a little excitement to February, I'm introducing you to my new sponsors and having giveaways all month.  New people to meet and free stuff to win?  What could be bad about that??

I'm so honored that my first giveaway is from Kim at Mocha Tree Organics. Mocha Tree Organics originated when Kim's daughter (one of my students) was diagnosed with an extreme case of eczema and, at two years old, the doctor suggested cortizone shots.  That sent Kim in search of a natural way to treat her daughter's sensitive skin and through that search, Mocha Tree Organics was created.

Vegan-friendly, certified organic products are what Mocha Tree Organics specializes in.  They even have a green initiative program to cut down on consumer waste by selling refills for their product containers instead of having to buy a new container.  That's some forward thinking!

Since starting to use their body polish, my dry, flaky winter skin has become all summery and soft.  Now if I could just find a tan for this pale skin, we'd be all set.  I picked the spearmint thyme one and used it for the first time after the gym one evening.  Beside the incessant banging on the door from Ellie asking me if I wanted to read her a book, I felt like I had been transported to the spa--it was that good.  The combination of smell and feel of the scrub was heaven, and I felt no shame in behaving like a cheesy family comedy mom locked in the bathroom escaping her kids.  Well worth it.

The best part about all this dry skin talk?  Kim is giving one lucky reader a Jasmine Rose Body Polish (a $15 value) from her shop.  And a 25% discount to everybody else! (Enter TAKE25 when you view your shopping cart before checkout.)  Mocha Tree Organics makes a great Valentine's day gift for guys or girls. . .or just buy something for yourself like I'm going to do.
